The Packrat is a small omnivorous rodent which grows slowly from mouse sized to skunk sized. They vary in color as widely as the leather and canvas packs they are named after. They carefully avoid being seen. They have a kangaroo-like skin pouch on their backs that their young offspring ride in until they are old enough to claim an adventurer's pack of their own. They also store random items in their pouches, and leave those items behind as they find new things they like more. They prefer to live near roads and rivers, where the backpacks and satchels of travelers are found. If a Packrat is living in your backpack, one ration will be gone each morning an in its place is something from the Item table.
If the heroes don't kill him, will cook them a meal that can heal 2 hit die worth of HP when consumed.
