Enchanted Cloth Armor
Higher tier Cloth armor may be enchanted with Boons (GM Guide, p.75). The armor tier determines the strongest Boon it can be enchanted by.
"Minor Enchantment": 1 Minor Boon
"Major Enchantment": 1 Major Boon
"Epic Enchantment": 1 Epic Boon
Note: a Boon replaces any bonuses to Defense on base cloth armors (sets it equal to Adventurer's Garb). When you use this is already accounted for.
Enchanted armors stack with Boons from other sources (consumables, lodging, level ups).
Any armor enchantments that increase HP, give Temporary HP instead, once per Safe Rest.
Enchantment Cost
Enchantments are already included in the price of the armor. However, you might not always find the enchantment you're looking for, or you may need to pay extra to tailor it to your needs.
If you already have an armor and want to change its enchantment, you may do so for half the armor value (provided it is the same type of Boon). Its previous enchantment is lost and you would have to pay again to change it back.
Changing enchantments takes between a Safe Rest and a week, depending on the complexity.
Optional: Fragile Enchantments
When you expend Lucky Ward. or Dampen. (), the impact weakens the magical weave powering the enchantment. It is inactive until the armor feature is restored (during Camp or a Safe Rest).
In particularly gritty cases (or shoddy enchantments) you may need to visit a tailor/enchanter to fix it.
If using standard armors, you could find other ways that can disable the enchantment, such as being Silenced or failing an INT save after a crit.
Defense represents your hero’s ability to dodge or block damage when you use the Defend reaction. While unarmored or wearing regular clothes, your Defense is equal to your DEX. Some items may grant additional Defense while equipped.
Defend Yourself!
If you’re standing right next to a baddie with an axe and you’re not doing anything to defend yourself, chances are, you’re going to get axed!
Spending extra gold on lavish accommodations can provide valuable temporary benefits. These perks might include quicker recovery, valuable contacts, additional resources, or unique opportunities. The specific benefits depend on the quality of the lodging and the amount spent. You can roll from the table, or award a Minor, Major, or even EPIC Boon based on how much the heroes pay and where they rest:
A Minor Boon: Typically costs around 10 gp.
A Major Boon: Typically costs around 100 gp.
An EPIC Boon: Typically costs around 1,000 gp.
These Boons are temporary and last only until the heroes take another Safe Rest. Adjust the cost and impact to suit your campaign and the party’s level of health.
